This facility uses Fungal Enzymes to break down cellulosic biomass (wheat straw) Into sugars and starches that are fermented into ethanol by yeast. The facility can turn about 250,000 tonnes of straw into 50,000 tonnes of sustainable bioethanol each year. The cellulosic ethanol can be applied as a drop-in solution for fuel blending but also offers further downstream application opportunities for sustainable aviation fuel and bio-based chemicals. Construction of the plant was completed in October 2021 and production began in the 2nd quarter of 2022.
